Crist Leads Three-Way Race in Florida

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida shows Gov. Charlie Crist (I) leads the race for U.S. Senate with 35%, followed by Marco Rubio (R) at 29% and Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) at 17%.

With Jeff Greene (D) as the Democratic nominee, Crist leads with 38%, followed by Rubio at 29% and Greene at just 13%.

Key finding: "Crist has become the de facto Democratic nominee and that's where most of his support is coming from. He's currently getting 44% of Democrats in the Meek match up, along with 40% of independents and 23% of Republicans."

2. A possible Ross Perot type repeat in 2012?
I've often thought if there was ever to be a 3rd party that could win power it would come from the "center". With everyone from left to right pissed off at the government and calling each other "extremists" a new center party winning adherents (IMO) is not unlikely.

And, no. I'm not calling for it.

3. Crist is a Republican, through and through.
A vote for him is a vote to obstruct any important legislation in the Senate. He is not the lesser of evils. He is a Republican in Independents clothing. Or a Wolf in German Shepherd's clothing. Either will eat a sheep if given an opportunity.

4. His two big vetoes playing major role in this
First, the bill which would have ended teacher tenure and tied their salaries, and ALL STAFF salaries whether they had any role whatsoever in testing of kids, to how well an individual school did on state tests. All the Republicans, including Rubio, were in favor. This was a big issue and he vetoed it.

The second veto was for required sonograms and counseling, including first trimester, for all women seeking an abortion in the state. Again, Republicans favored this one too.

He's getting a lot of Democratic and Independent support from these two issues alone. As people have said, no, no, no to Teabagger Rubio. Anything to keep HIM out of office.
