I think there are probably tens of thousands of under-represented posters here, who read and only post sometimes, and a couple hundred who post a lot but read less, proportionately. You could probably look at your logs and see if that's true or not, and actually I'm kind of curious what those various percentages would be, if you have time.

Is that nuanced enough for you? O8)

Campaign season is a busy time for me, but I will definitely consider volunteering after I've decompresed following the mid-term elections.

The mods' performance was an important factor in my decision to stick with DU. When i first returned to DU, I was defended by the mods against a poster who basically challenged me on being a newbie. Although I'd only alerted on his OP (which was locked), and not on his post, the mods deleted the post. It's not just that mods' actions have agreed with me when I've alerted. In the totality of mod actions I've seen, they've done an impressive job protecting and preserving the rules and values of DU.

Especially impressive is the fact that these "citizen" volunteers do such an amazing job, fairly and without bias. Just like our jury duty system, we take individuals from our universe of members, people of various backgrounds and experience, who have a diverse range of political opinions (even at DU), from all walks of life, and we entrust them with responsibility, AND IT WORKS! Despite any naysayers, that's pretty f'n democratic of DU--and a great testament to all of us.

When the time is right for me, I'll be proud to join the ranks of the DU mods. And a big thankyou to all who serve, and who have served! :thumbsup: :yourock:

That said, I'd make a terrible moderator - I have far too much rage in me.

Still, I can appreciate the viewpoints of those here that are disappointed in President Obama - I'm disappointed in a lot of his actions too, but at the same time, I don't believe he's evil or even close to evil.

Personally, I'm just sick of the circular firing squads, regardless of sides. Lately, I tend to avoid them.
