I know more people that are affected by the lack of unemployment than I know that benefit from the
Bush tax cuts.
I would expect that the average American is in the same boat.
WHY do people buy the line that not continuing the tax cuts is the "largest tax increase in history" and why does the M$M allow that statement to go unchecked?
It is NOT the largest tax increase in history--it is merely an economic equalization.
I don't know about you--but my insurance costs have gone up, utilities have gone up, and food costs have risen. Raises have been frozen for the last two years and matching 401 funds are unheard of.
I challenge the republicans to put their money where their mouth is. You don't want the largest tax increase in history??
Why not transfer the Bush tax cuts to the working class dollar for dollar???
No doubt the sound of crickets would ensue.
This isn't about tax cuts. This is about a transfer of wealth.
Obviously it isn't quite complete yet.
When you figure that for each job available there are 5 unemployed people wanting that job, then you realize...the tax cuts obviously didn't work. Why continue them?
That isn't a question the M$M will be asking.
Sadly.

1. Imho, people go along with it because they're afraid and they hope
someone knows more than they do.

2. The capitalists running this country need a large underclass of working poor.
I've begun to believe that Republicans like to see people get into financial trouble, because then they get a poor credit rating. Once somebody has a poor credit rating, you can screw them royally on car loans or credit cards or even car insurance - for years.

Under the Bush administration unemployment insurance was only extended once - and that was specifically timed to help people who lost their jobs on September 11, 2001. If Republicans don't see a patriotic reason for extending benefits, they are going to ignore it.

That way they can keep transferring wealth from the poor to the rich.
