Glenn Beck Declares Obama’s Policies to be the Enemies of God
Source: Politicususa

Apparently Glenn Beck has been speaking to God again, because on his radio show today, Beck proclaimed that Obama’s policies are the enemies of God, “The policies that are being enacted in Washington. They are not enemies of ours. They are enemies of God, because God is about freedom.”

The next Joseph Smith...
Won't be long now, soon he will announce that he is the true modern day prophet and god has instructed him to create the new re- organized church of Latter Beck Saints. The angel Moron will be on his temple spire and all his little LBS followers will have to wear special undergarments to protect them from socialism.

As a spin-off business, he will offer his followers golden tablets as a hedge against the next economic disaster.

9. I can't figure out what freedoms goofy glen and the teabaggers think they've lost?
I would have said the insurance mandate...but they've been screaming and tearing their hair out over their lost freedoms since long before the mandates were brought up.

14. My relatives complained of this under Clinton.
When I asked the question you just asked, they couldn't come up with any 'freedoms' they had lost, they just knew they had lost them.

24. Ha! Reminds me of an article
Edited on Mon Jul-19-10 03:21 PM by JonLP24
According to the article,

Rove and other neoconservatives seem to use the political philosophy of Leo Strauss who taught, in part, that religion was necessary to control people. He wasn't religious himself, he simply considered necessary. In the book Toward a New Political Humanism, Katherine Yurica explains what she sees as the basic contradictions between neoconservative, Straussian thought and traditional Christianity:

First: Strauss believed that a leader had to perpetually deceive the citizens he ruled.

Secondly: Those who lead must understand there is no morality, there is only the right of the superior to rule the inferior.

Thirdly: According to Drury, Religion "is the glue that holds society together." It is a handle by which the ruler can manipulate the masses. Any religion will do. Strauss is indifferent to them all.

Fourthly: "Secular society…is the worst possible thing," because it leads to individualism, liberalism, and relativism, all of which encourage dissent and rebellion. As Drury sums it up: "You want a crowd that you can manipulate like putty."

Fifthly: "Strauss thinks that a political order can be stable only if it is united by an external threat; and following Machiavelli, he maintains that if no external threat exists, then one has to be manufactured."

Sixthly: "In Strauss's view, the trouble with liberal society is that it dispenses with noble lies and pious frauds. It tries to found society on secular rational foundations."

Just something I came across that I thought was interesting.

17. Having read the Bible a time or two, I'm wondering: which
God Mr. Beck is referring to? It seems to me that the God of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament was rather harsh to His followers if they did anything other than what they were told. That certainly doesn't sound like freedom to me. Perhaps Mr. Beck is referring to one of his right wing Mormon friends who has died and been made a god of a planet in another part of the galaxy or another galaxy altogether?

18. Remember, Beck is just an entertainer
So if some guy goes off his nut and seeks to reorder society with an assortment of armaments and body armor and gets into a police shootout because he's mad at liberal politicians (oh, and just for kicks, let's say he's an ex-con and unemployed woodworker), it's not Beck's fault because Beck is just an entertainer. It would be so very wrong to make any connection between what Beck says and anything anyone anywhere does. Okay?

19. Why, it's right there in the Bible!
Mathew 25 31-36, Glen Beck version

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I wasn't hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I wasn't thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you threw me out, 36I needed no clothes and you didn't clothe me, I wasn't sick and you didn't look after me, I wasn't in prison and you didn't visit me.'

Of course, your Liberal Bible may say something different.

23. Perfect example of what happens when religion and politics are mixed.
Totally bat-shit craziness ensues. You cannot argue with these people as they see it as attacking their religion, which appears to give them carte blanche in leaving any kind of reason or logic in the sewer.

25. I haven't read the big book for awhile, but is the concept of "Freedom" even in there?
All I can recall is Moses taking the tribe out of Egypt where on the way God gave them 10 laws they apparently weren't saddled with before.

I can't remember anything about the god of the bible being "about freedom". Mostly it was about obedience, not freedom.
