I firmly believe that many conservatives would have no problem bringing back the institution of slavery. The only difference is that nowadays, they wouldn't really care about the color of the slave's skin, they'd be just as happy enslaving poor whites as they would blacks and Hispanics. They would probably even argue that such measures were necessary for American manufacturers to compete with "cheap labor" overseas.
