About Common Nonsense: Everything we need to know to combat the angry Right's self-anointed Progressive Hunter -- and his followers
Why should we pay any attention to Glenn Beck and his frothing attacks on progressives? Since the 2008 election, Beck has emerged as the angry Right's media superstar and would-be commander of the conservative "grassroots," especially those who identify with the Tea Party movement. He describes a frightening funhouse mirror America, where President Obama is a black nationalist racist; anyone who opposed the Vietnam War (or any American military operation) are traitors; and people who fight for the "viruses" of economic, health-care and social justice are Communist "cockroaches." According to the Beck mantra, progressives must be hunted down.
In November 2009, Beck appeared before 30,000 fans who had traveled to a retirement community in Florida to hear him unveil a 100-year plan to "take back" the country. On August 28, 2010 the former Top 40 radio deejay-whose combined radio and Fox TV monthly media footprint has expanded to an estimated thirty million followers-is orchestrating a landmark march on Washington and rally at the Lincoln Memorial with Sarah Palin. This event, he proclaims, is geared to "Restoring Honor" to America-on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" oration.
Here is the book on Beck, thoroughly and meticulously exposing the details behind his rise to prominence and exactly what he stands for. (Read more >)
