Governor Crist's Office Rocks
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 01:11 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
I need to renew my drivers license and have heard all the horror stories so I decided to call the Department Of Motor Vehicles in advance.
The problem was I got a perpetual busy signal. Due to the heightened emphasis on security the requirements for getting a license or renewing one are onerous. You need your birth certificate, your social security card, and two proofs of residence. I also wanted to make sure I was still eligible for the safe driver designation.

So I called Charlie Crist's office. Not only did they immediately connect me to the Department Of Motor Vehicles but they put me in touch with the office manager where I have to go to get my license renewed. All I need to is ask for her.

Of course I would prefer the Democrat but Florida can do a lot worse than Charlie Crist.

2. It's A Two Man Race Between Charlie And Rubio
I am torn between Meek and Charlie.

I have voted a straight Democratic ticket my entire life but I just like Charlie.

3. He's a snake- don't be seduced by a good experience.
Yes he'd be better then Rubio- I'll give him that. AND I'm not a huge fan of Kendrick Meek (but I'll be voting for him anyway). But Christ has demonstrated that he is a true politician and no one really knows where he stands on anything since he changes direction every time the wind blows.

4. Meek Has No Chance. No Chance At All
Charlie strikes me as a live and let live guy who gravitated to the right out of political expediency. He is as progressive or liberal or whatever you want to call it as you can be and win a statewide race in FL.

Rubio is just a stalking horse for Jeb Bush.

5. Not looking forward to it
This is also something new. If I am still living here when I renew, I will have to bring my passport to back up my BC because I KNOW they are not going like my BC. BTW, if you are a married women, this also means you will have to bring a copy of your marriage license showing the change of your last name too.

7. My original was lost when NYC Department of Health
sent it to the VA 50 years ago. That is the problem I have always had. It has the state seal on it but only has my name, place, and DOB. This is all there is in the Birth Index. Nothing about my parents, and this seems to be a sticking point with officials.

Good thing I got that passport. Let Florida argue with the Federal Government if they don't like my BC.

8. I worked as the Administrative Secretary to a Manager of a
Motor Vehicle Administration. One thing I learned. If you complain you get what you want ALMOST ALWAYS. The manager can not bend the rules. But what you do is call headquarters and headquarters calls the manager, she get chewed out and performs the service. One woman came in with a photo copy of her birth certificate, not accepted. Which it shouldn't be. The Administration's Staff Member was there that day. He talked to the woman, said I don't think you look like you are a person who would cheat I'm going to approve this. He initialed it, and the manager had to accept it. The easiest thing to fake is a photocopied document. But he accepted it because she looked honest.

Now I have known stories like this poster has had. And since MVA is constantly busy they did the right thing to contact someone higher up the chain. Our info phones got so busy they had to build a center for just answering telephones in a central area with and 800 number and calls were routed there. So I know. And it is frustrating as the devil.
