Tea Party Tries To Defend Itself
Today on the Dylan Ratigan Show there was a discussion on the billboard that was put up by the Iowa Tea Party and allegations that the group at least tolerates racism. The person defending the Tea Party on the show attempted to blame the media for the supposed racism of the Tea Party. The person was claiming that the media constantly showed only the pictures and posters that promoted the idea that the Tea Party supports racism. If the billboard and the other pictures do not actually represent what the Tea Party is about why does things like that keep happening. The billboard is not the first time Tea Party members have been seen comparing President Obama to a negative political figure from the past. It seems to me that if this was not a real issue within the Tea Party the media would not be able to find so many pictures of Tea Party members making these comparisons.

1. Here's another point...
I can't count how many videos and pictures I've seen of Tea Party attendees trying to pull down and tear up the signs that are held by pro-Obama counter-protesters in their midst, yet I never see any of those attendees trying to do the same thing to the people with the racist signs. It seems to me that I would not be wrong in perceiving that as acceptance and support of the racism by the Tea Party members.

2. There is just no defense for the teabagger actions. You are right,
if there were not so many examples of racism for the media to find, they would not be able to keep that in the spotlight. When my boss, who is an avid teabagger, used the n-word during a political discussion, I knew that this was prevalent in all of them---even the ones who will not put it on their signs.
