1. You should have added "another candidate" as a category
There are many among us who would vote for the Lady in a heartbeat if she threw her hat (?) in the ring.

15. actually I did
I put in if he is the Democratic Nominee which means you would vote different in the primary, so that is the selection you would want in this poll.

2. He'd have to either become a Republican
or pledge his undying allegiance to the Republican Party, Christian Coalition, or any other right-wing organization/cause, etc. for me to waver from voting for him in the slightest. Thankfully, the chances of any of that happening are zip.

He's still the best candidate, prospect, most intelligent, capable, worldwide respected person out there. Name ONE better. Sure, I am disappointed by some things, but Obama is still the best candidate out there by far.
When you consider what he was handed, when you factor in many unheralded small positive changes, I see a good president. The beef of most people is the stall in the economy, a stall that would have been worse left to the repubs.

But the question REALLY is - will they work as hard to get Obama in as in the last election?

8. The President will either be a Democrat or a Republican.
If you do not cast a vote for the Democratic candidate, then that's one less vote the Republican will have to get to beat the Democrat. Republicans love it when those who ordinarily support Democrats do not bother to vote.

It's sad that so many cannot seem to grasp this simple concept.

18. because the Democratic Party owns my vote?
no. No, it doesn't.

They have to EARN it.

I am under no obligation to vote for a Democrat if he/she does not adequately represent my views. If a 3rd party candidate better represents my views, I have every right to vote for that candidate. I will not blindly support the 2-party system just because it is a 2-party system.

27. Not casting a vote for a Democrat in an election simply helps the Republican.
That's the way it is. Choices have consequences and not making a choice to cast a vote has a consequence if it helps to elect the opponent. Could you blithely live with your choice if you knew you had aided in the election of someone like George Bush?

28. seems to me the Democratic party abandoning
the interests of the people for the same corporate interests that own the Republicans - and therefore not standing for anything many of us on the left care about, running a poor campaign, these are what you should blame if the Dems lose, not those who the Democratic party has abandoned.

To be clear, there's a very good chance I'll vote for Obama. I haven't been happy with any third party presidential candidates in recent years, so he likely has my vote despite my disappointment in his lack of leadership on important issues like health care reform and the economy.

However, he does not own my vote. No one does. If he or any other Dem is not representing my interests, I reserve the right to not vote for that Dem. That Dem is responsible if the Republican wins.

29. Each and every one of us do not get to craft our own personal and acceptable candidates.
The Democratic Party and its philosophy and direction is crafted at the local, state, and primary level.

You are responsible for your vote, or your unvote, and you cannot blame a politician for making you make that choice. It's your choice, your responsibility. Choices or not making them have consequences, unintended or not.

Republicans seem to be more pragmatic about this while Democrats seem more than will to bit off their noses to teach their faces a lesson. Yet who among us does not celebrate when we see Republicans failing to support Republican candidates or casting their votes for a 3rd party candidate?

36. Let's take the case of Gore & Bush. Does any sane person believe that Gore would have done the same
as Bush? Made the same Supreme Court appointments, made the same decisions, got us into 2 wars?

Even now, does any rational person actually believe that Obama would do exactly the same as the Republicans would do? Sure, he may disappoint Democrats, but to claim there is no difference between him and a Republican, between Democrats and Republicans in general is intellectually dishonest.

9. Yet another poorly specified poll
If it was a contested primary and I liked the other candidate better, I would not vote for him.
I would vote for him in the general election if he was the nominee
This is exactly what I did the last time around.

Admittedly, challenges to a sitting president from their own party are rare.

that you will vote another candidate in the primary, that you will vote 3rd party, that you will not vote in the race at all. That covers all but voting republican.

No I will vote Republican

I didn't put it in because I figured even Republican Trolls here will not choose it just so they won't prove beyond doubt that they are just trolls. Maybe I should have added, but it is too late to change it now. What do you think, should I have added it?

I mean, seriously--even if he was as scummy as some of his left-wing critics say, he'd still be a better option than any of the serpents the Republicans will put up in 2012.

62, and I plan on voting in all of them till I'm dead.

I FINANCIALLY support candidates who are more liberal, even in other states.
