1. This should be interesting.
Her twin sister, Janet, is President of the National Council of La Raza. I just got back from their national conference in San Antonio.

2. Arizona Repub Senators

Senator Kyl spoke at her hearing today an expressed his support for her nomination. Kyl said that McCain, who was not at the hearing, also supported the nomination. She might actually get a vote this year...

3. Only because she is a sitting judge in Arizonia

From Wikipedia:
Federal judicial service
On July 21, 2000, President Clinton nominated Murguia to a new seat on the United States District Court for the District of Arizona that was created by 113 Stat. 1501. The United States Senate confirmed Murguia on October 3, 2000, and she received her commission on October 13, 2000.

If she had been from any other state then the two republican Arizona senators would have been totally against her ;)

p.s. It is customary for the senator/s from the state of the nominee to speak - so I wouldn't give Kyl too much credit for being decent while introducing her - he had to do it.
