DU is great for some R&R and a place to swap tips, but the real action is in getting out and "being active".

Instead of spending as much time as we do online complaining, we ought to be pestering news outlets and local politicians. And that's EXACTLY how the Right got and keeps power.

When I see all the ridicule that's wasted here on internecine fighting, I think of how much progress we would make if we simply turned it loose on the rightist megaphones. And not just dry, witty snark, laden with recherche slogans cribbed from Foucault, but loud, ballsy, boisterous, full-throated hyperbole and blame.
