Remember my blog post about BP's hired guns? It got fairly good coverage including a mention from Wired. While monitoring New Orleans' WDSU Channel 6 television station, I saw a news report that pleasantly surprised me.
How the world changes! Apparently BP does not like their contractors telling them things could be going wrong. Rather than listening to its contractors who report back anomalies, BP fires them.
You don't know Adam Dillon but you've seen him on this blog.
Adam Dillon, former BP contractor now whistleblower.
Now you remember Adam Dillon. So when Dillon tried to do the right thing, BP fired him. Dillon says he was fired by BP after he took photos of chemical dispersants being used to break up the spill and brought them, along with his concerns, to the attention of his superiors. He was subsequently sacked but not before being "confined and interrogated." Dillon has praise for his fellow crew workers and contractors, but he describes BP as being full of "cut throat individuals." When Dillon tried to bring the truth out, he went from being a contractor to being an enemy of BP.
