1. Malcolm Wallop was busy? Todd Tiahrt was on the campaign trail?
Steve Forbes was already booked?

Your guess is as good as mine.

5. Close. He's the biggest pigheaded Republican they could come up with.
Edited on Mon Jul-12-10 09:25 AM by Robb
Whatever comes out of the commission, with this fucker on board no one can possibly say it's biased against knuckledraggers.

Remember when he called Peter Arnett a Saddam "sympathizer" because he reported from Bagdhad?

Edited to add: he's also in no position to run for anything, so Simpson won't be able to score points.

6. As a corollary to thos question: Why did we need *any* repubican co-chair?
As a rhetorical corollary to *that* corollary, what benefit has come from *any* bipartisanship in the Obama administration?

8. 60 million people voted for the other guy.
...Shall we tell them to go fuck themselves, no chance of their interests being even partially represented?

12. Its "binkie" . . . . and yeah, some binkie loss is appropriate. Elections ought to have consequences
Its funny. Some always seem to think that the left needs to give up, give in or give over. No one seems to thing the repubicans have the same obligations, though.

I would LOVE Rahm Emanual if he were a lefty. I love the hard charging, take no prisoners style. That's what leaders do. I just think his politics are are the antithesis of everything I believe in.

I know you're a big supporter of the president and an opponent of everything negative against him. So, from that perspective, how can you say "my way or the highway" Rahm is a good thing (presumably, because Obama appointed him) and then call for bipartisanship? That seems antithetical - or unprincipled.

Yes, working with half of America is "giving up." :D You want a leftist dictator. I don't.

I would LOVE Rahm Emanual if he were a lefty.

...You mean, if he agreed with you at every turn?

I know you're a big supporter of the president and an opponent of everything negative against him.

Try again, Stinky. You can do better. This week doesn't bear out that attempt to minimize my opinion.

So, from that perspective, how can you say "my way or the highway" Rahm is a good thing (presumably, because Obama appointed him) and then call for bipartisanship?

Ooo, swing and miss, and transparent. You want to paint me as a Rahm lover? Perhaps you should find a single post of mine to that effect. If you could, you'd probably score some points in trying to argue against me, rather than my argument. I think I called him an effective paid asshole at one point, which you could try to spin as praise.

Off you go, search away. ;)

25. You are misunderstanding. I strongly disapprove of repuke policies.
I would have no problem with Dem actions if they produced results. Even if they acted tough, brutish and like they, I don't know, had power.

Dems don't know how to exert their power. Unfortunately, repukes know how to all too well.

10. A "Reasonable" Rushpublican...
I used to hear Ted Kennedy clean his clock daily in the 80s on a radio feature. He was a right wing loon in those days but now seems "moderate" in light of how far off the political abyss the GOOP has gone.

is more qualified to chair the committee.
Robert Reich is more qualified.
How about Dr. Stiglitz?
Politicians are good at politics.
They are not good at fiscal structure.
