Poll question: Will unemployment extensions pass this week?........
And, if its not too much trouble, please explain why you think so.

As of this Monday, it is estimated that over 2 million people will have lost their unemployment compensation, an event that is unprecedented in US history.

3. Has Byrd's seat been filled?
My understanding was that if his seat were filled before the next vote, it should pass.

But

4. Nope........
Gov. Manchin is convening the State Senate this week to make sure there are no problems with his ascendancy, umm... I mean, appointment. Its looking like late this week or most likely next week before it comes up for debate. Just add another 250,000 to the benefit loss rolls.

6. Perhaps
But I do believe this will be the last extension. It gets harder each successive time to round up the votes to pass an extension.

7. Congress is getting away with it
so No, they won't bother--until they are all flung out of office in November.

8. We all need to call or e-mail as many senators
as we can. I just e-mailed Ben Nelson, even though I don't live in Nebraska. Tomorrow I am going to call Collins and Snowe. I am not a Maine resident but we have a cottage in Maine. I often use that address to make them think I am a constituent.
