I went to a wedding last week.

A wedding that would not have been possible just 10 years ago.

My friend, who identifies as queer and is like a big sister to me, got married to a lovely transgender man that she met while she was travelling in Australia. She's a writer; he's a performance artist. They only announced the wedding the day before - it was a surprise to all of us! It was a wonderful little ceremony in a park, and you could really tell how much they love each other.

I am so lucky to live somewhere where "same-sex" marriage is legal. I really wish it was legal everywhere, so people could share in the joy of having their love legally recognized. Because, as my friend said, love is awesome, y'all.
