Poll question: If the President decided to shake up the Cabinet, who would you like to see go most...
Edited on Sun Jul-11-10 06:42 PM by OmahaBlueDog
I'm betting that, no matter who ends up with the House or Senate in November, a Cabinet shakeup is on the horizon.

3. Not to be too anal retentive about it, but technically neither Rahm nor Gibbs are in the Cabinet.
Edited on Sun Jul-11-10 05:53 PM by SteppingRazor
Although Rahm does have a Cabinet-level position, while Gibbs doesn't even have that.

Anyway, all that said, if I was going to get rid of any of them, I'd probably lose Geithner.

I gotta disagree that there'll be much of a shake up though. Rham might go, but I doubt you'll see too much change.

And I think I'd lose Locke if I were going to replace him with Andy Stern.

16. I think the Press Secretary has taken on a cabinet-member like presence..
..as s/he is the face of the Administration to the media for most day-to-day issues. Your point is taken.

I disagree about the shakeup. Some of it may simply be changing deck chairs (same people, different jobs), but, after two years, it's clear that some of these folks are not working out.

I think Emmanuel is likely gone, Napolitano is in some danger, and I wouldn't be stunned to see Salazar and Duncan gone.

32. Maybe Napolitano
But I really don't see any of the rest of them going. The complaint against Salazar is that he isn't ending the exploitation of every single resource in the country. I don't know how he could do that. We can't just end coal top mining, oil drilling, logging, and mining. I think he is as surprised as how deep the corruption is in the government as anybody.

I don't personally like Locke because I think he isn't going to defend workers' rights and the environment in treaties. But I don't see him going anywhere either, unless he takes a job with a big fat multi-million dollar paycheck.

4. I hope you're right about the shakeup. Who would you most like
to see go?

I chose Geithner since there are rumors Rahm has one foot out the door anyway.

7. This will surprise most - Robert Gibbs
I think he has to be held accountable for the poor job the administration is doing making its arguments to the public.

I think Howard Dean ought to be brought in as COS and to help re-focus the agenda.

and Geithner are more dangerous.

I'm drawing a blank - COS?

9. Ken Salazar, Dept. of the Interior.
He continued the oil friendly policies of the Bush administration up until the Horizon Gulf Oil disaster. We need a real greenie in the Interior Department with either Sierra Club or Greenpeace experience.

I'm in favor of dumping Emanuel, Salazar, Geithner and Duncan.

Wouldn't mind seeing Gibbs go, too.

Don't know that I have any problems with Sebelius.

Can't say I'm all that impressed with Gates, necessarily, but I don't know that he's the problem, or that anyone else would do significantly better.

20. The Sebelius theory is that she didn't do well enough selling HCR
I'm surprised that Duncan and Geithner have gotten so many comments, but Rahm is the overwhelming vote leader.

42. ah - well, seems to me that
Obama himself needed to be selling HCR. He's the one that has the great oratory skills and the popularity and visibility to push it, IMO.

I understand that teachers despise Duncan - I don't know much about him.

Geithner is part of the problem, I think, in the continuing economic crisis. He's of the Rubin school who got us into the mess, as I understand it. Bring in someone who has ideas like Krugman or Reich if we're serious about fixing the problems. Hooverite policies will only deepen and extend the recession/depression we're in, IMO.

The guy's a MonSatan shill, for fucks sake. Ultimately though, they all need to be replaced by Democrats.

And I suspect it's not going to happen until Rahm is gone, so he needs to be first to go.

35. There are quite a few who I think need to go
Duncan and Geithner are neck and neck for the Big Turd In The Punchbowl award.

Salazar is next.

Then Gates, just because the DoD is too important to leave to a repubican if the president is a Democrat.

Then Sebilius cuz what the hell has she done?

Rahm is not in the cabinet, but he needs to go just because he called me a retard.
