Tea Party beyond anger
http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2010/jun/19/tea-party-beyond-anger/

This is an older article, but I'd never seen it before. Some excerpts from some very confused people:

''I found myself getting angry and depressed. Government was growing so large. Spending was getting out of control and the bailouts. Basically it's a disrespect for the Constitution. I'm really afraid for my rights." She worries the government will crack down on free speech to smother criticism about its growing role in everyday life.

Wall, a friendly woman with streaks of auburn through her short gray hair, had never been involved in politics. But then Barack Obama was elected and he started up with the stimulus and health care. The tea party is her sedative, and her adrenaline.

''It's made me a better American," she says. "It's made me a better teacher. I'm a more responsible, engaged citizen. And that's really what democracy's supposed to be."

//snip//

''I can remember watching the stock market tumble every day, watching our 401(k) and thinking how are we going to put our kids through college, pay for weddings?" said Jamie Radtke, who homeschools her three children and is president of Richmond Tea Party, which has a mailing list of 7,000 people.

1. Because history began in January 2009
Nothing bad ever happened before, there were no czars, no recess appointments--nothing. Everyone had jobs and the economy was great. Then that one got elected...

2. Jamie Radtke is an idiot

My 401K plummeted under Bush and has been coming back ever since. These people have some legitimate anger, but it's being directed at the wrong party in almost every case. That's the power of propaganda. I mostly blame the lame-stream media for not correcting this bullshit. But it probably wouldn't make much difference anyway since the baggers have been brainwashed for years that it's the "left wing media" and can't be trusted (except for Fair and Balanced :sarcasm: Fucked News, of course.

3. That's what they're all about: they're smart enough to know
they have gotten a thorough screw job but far too stupid to be able to figure out who did it to them. They rely on people on radio and TV who seem to be just as fearful and angry as they are and think since those people are on radio and TV, they must be smart enough to figure it all out.

They're looking for answers and they're getting all the wrong answers and they're too damn dumb to know the difference or too damn lazy to try to do the work to figure it out.

5. Bragging about how uninformed they are is funny.
Why not just say "I despise Democrats and blame them for everything that goes wrong in the USA." I know, intellectual honesty from teabaggers is asking a lot, I guess they like being perceived as idiots.

9. Delusional teabagger moran
Edited on Sun Jul-11-10 03:17 PM by Urban Prairie
In Richmond, tea party member Paula Nachman lamented that Obama's health care reform push was a ruse to dictate how much salt and saturated fat is in food, and how much exercise one must do. "It was never about health. It was all about control," she said.

''If I want to go to McDonald's and have extra salt on my French fries every now and again," Nachman said, "it's nobody's business but mine."

It IS ALL of our business, dumbass, we have seen too many examples of what the endless quest for short-term profits will cause a monopolistic capitalist corporation to do, or not do for the sake of increasing and maintaining its customer base, for example adding unnecessary ingredients like sodium, preservatives, and HFCS, leading to poor health sooner or later in life, like coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, and the resulting health care treatment that is necessary, ultimately costs taxpayers and affects everyone who wants AFFORDABLE health care, much more than preventive education and regulations would.

11. Not only that - she's a moran because
Even if McDonald's was required to sell you fries without any salt, that can't prevent them from providing the packets of salt to put on you self (then you can control how little or how much you put on all by your moran self).

Funny how the spellchecker keeps wanting to change the spelling of moran to moron! MORANS!

10. If ever there was a group in dire need of psychiatric help, it's this crowd
Getting depressed because the government is "getting too big" and spending to much? Wow. I wish that's all I had to get "angry and depressed" over.
