60 Americans died in Afghanistan in June!
How many Americans in the USA could answer that question? 5%? Lower?

How many Americans knows what team Lebron James signed with? How many know an American Idol contestant? I bet a higher percentage.

The war is out of sight, our of mind.

I bet the pentagon loves it that way.

Just damn depressing.

1. Can you answer how many Afghans were killed by NATO actions in Afghanistan in June?

7. I don't think it's possible to put an accurate number to it, other than, "many more than that."
We can add up reported numbers from air and drone strikes and supposed body count figures from ground actions, but these are always incomplete.

(I'm glad you took that as I meant it and didn't think it was snarky. Thanks.)

Civilian Deaths Rise as Afghan Fight Intensifies
by Rob Taylor

KABUL - Protesters chanted slogans against foreign forces and Afghan President Hamid Karzai after U.S. troops killed two civilians in a pre-dawn raid Wednesday in the northern city's outskirts.

NATO also admitted killing six people with stray artillery Thursday, a day after an airstrike accidentally killed five Afghan soldiers.

Afghans protest deadly US raids, civilian deaths. (File photo)Insurgent gunmen also killed 11 Pakistani tribesmen near the eastern Afghan border, opening fire on their bus, while a bomb placed on a motorbike killed one civilian at a bazaar in the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar.

Civilian casualties and friendly fire deaths among Afghan security forces have been a frequent irritant between Karzai and Western military forces during the nine-year war since the ousting of the Taliban in 2001.

2. Isn't the Taliban to American casualities actually slanted towards Americans now?
Less than 1 Taliban dead per American. We're wasting American lives and dollars for an enemy that is a waste of time and lives to fight.

Time to pull out. Afghanistan will be fine on its own (even if under Taliban control).

5. US commander caught on tape: "It's fun to kill in Afghanistan"
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/its-fun-to-kill-in-afghanistan-says-top-us-commander-2023155.html

This is going around the world - the Muslim world especially - no matter how we deny it here. We're only blind to reality, that can't be any good for us, either.

Soldiers are tools of murder. They're not defending anyone over here. They aren't giving us "service." Bring them back and put their commanders and the war planners on trial.

9. But..but..think of the pretty monument the politicians will have built for them!
The one they'll shed crocodile tears over when they fund the next war.
