1. Mel Gibson's douchebaggery has hurt himself. That is, he has no credibility.
Voight's douchebaggery comes with a little credibility among some, because he has not painted himself as badly as Gibson has. Hence Voight's douchebaggery can do more harm to others.

2. Many years ago, my friend had a crush on him...
but I'm proud to say he never did anything for me. Of course my crush was Val Kilmer. :(

As far as I know, Jon Voight is not a woman batterer, or an overt racist - just a scared white man (and there are so many of those running around these days), so he's definitely less douchier.

3. Being crazy isn't douchebaggery, but being
a violent misogynist and a racist are.

5. Mel Gibson is an out-of-control booze hound. Not very interesting, really.
And, it appears, he has no particular reason to clean up his act. My take on his recent movies is that he is fascinated with blood, guts, and torture. I say this having avoided seeing them all...so, yes, you may criticize me for pronouncing judgement on stuff I haven't looked at. But the idea of watching the disembowelment of patriotic Scots, or the murder of
ancient Mayans (were they Mayans? Aztecs?) and the slow torture death of a young man who may or may not have been the Son of God but who has presented the world with a standard of gentleness and love to live by (if only we would) for two thousand years, is not my idea of a good, or enlightening, time.
End of sermon.

Jon Voight's politics make me wretch. But I really like watching him play bad guys in the movies.
