The truth is somewhere in between...
We find ourselves in a heck of a predicament, both Democrats and Republicans.

God help this country.

Both sides believe they are in possession of the truth. Most likely, neither is. It is probably somewhere between the two.

I say this as a supporter of our President. I happen to believe that the country was in very bad shape, almost critical, when he took office. Maybe I am wrong?

Those that believe the President is a "socialist" and worse, do not believe the country was in critical condition when he took over. Things were bad, but not critical. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere between? Perhaps a few believe it was not bad at all?

We must be honest with ourselves. We should be careful not to deceive ourselves, no matter which side we are on.

But until we can come to a consensus about how bad our economy was and how bad it is right now, we will not be able to help our fellow Americans that need help very badly. They need jobs. If they cannot find one, they need their unemployment insurance. They paid into it. It is cold-hearted not to help these folks. Perhaps you disagree?

No one should disagree just to disagree. Especially when people's lives are involved.

That is just my opinion as a common American.

1. I disagree the truth is in the middle. The GOP and the right have moved
far to the right to force compromise that is further to the right itself. I would say that once you pay your bills through adequate taxes and smart spending, then all manner of social programs should be considered. Certainly universal health care should exist in the USA but the USA has been so warped by the right wing that was made impossible...for now.

2. Truth being somewhere in between only works when each side
is some reasonable close to same distance from that truth. Usually it is meant to mean compromise.

Truth heh...

Here is some truth, I am still owed from the past, and still do not have smokes or beer. However since many do not accept that truth, I am having much comfort in lesser thoughts about many people, although I think that might be not the best choice, it has some satisfaction in it.

3. The truth is where the truth is
And it's usually found gathering up many pieces of truth until the path is full and clear.

4. False Compromise:
False Compromise:

if one does not understand a debate, it must be "fair" to split the difference, and agree on a compromise between the opinions. (But one side is very possibly wrong, and in any case one could simply suspend judgment.) Journalists often invoke this fallacy in the name of "balanced" coverage.

"Some say the sun rises in the east, some say it rises in the west; the truth lies probably somewhere in between."

Television reporters like balanced coverage so much that they may give half of their report to a view held by a small minority of the people in question. There are many possible reasons for this, some of them good. However, viewers need to be aware of this tendency.
