Thoughts on Faisal Shahzad (Time Square Bomber) from the son of a convicted terrorist .
Is this posted in the right forum?

I appreciate any feedback. Let me know what you think.

Snip:

Faisal Shahzad was a family man too before he got caught up in becoming the “answer”. His children are much younger then I was. They won’t have the memories of their father before he was a prisoner. The truth of the matter is my father thought he was an answer for something as well. Yet the cycle continues. Another fool calls himself the answer to a question that has been asked and answered a million times before. How can I feel like I’ve done something, without actually doing anything? Men like my father and Faisal Shahzad wanted so badly to help the victims of war (e.g. the innocent women and children of Pakistan and Afghanistan) but were unwilling to find a means that excluded violence.

5. Bullshit. He tried to blow up a car in a civilian neighborhood. Whatever
reasons he had for doing it, they are not honorable.

6. That't the exact point of the OP
don't have a whit to do with honor, but trying to do something about it, and not finding a NON VIOLENT way to do it.

See, the cycle of violence continues...

8. Of course they are not honorable.
"Men like my father and Faisal Shahzad wanted so badly to help the victims of war (e.g. the innocent women and children of Pakistan and Afghanistan) but were unwilling to find a means that excluded violence."

Did you read the entire post? There is no mention of honor anywhere in it. The point is that these men, so frustrated with American policy (and the killing of innocent Muslim civilians) that they became unwilling to look for a solution to the problem. There is no honor in that obviously. My main point was that twenty years from now, when the reporters and camera's are all gone, and he is left with only himself in a tiny jail cell, what solace will he find knowing that he only helped to continue the cycle of violence.

They, like so many others, gave up looking for a comprehensive solution to those killings. Instead they reverted back to the most common response...violence. Changing nothing.

9. Did you read the full post?
Just wondering? It was not about defending Shahzad. The post condemns his actions and talks about how violence solves nothing. You should reread it again...I read it a few times. Then come back and explain to me what exactly you think is "bullshit". It is good to have these conversations I don't mean to offend you:)
Peace

7. Another war, another set of refugees
One thing I had to deal with while debriefing refugees was the incredible ammount of anger that leads to the cycle continuing. I hope that some day the cycle will stop, and it will take people on ALL sides realizing that violence does indeed beget violence.

My memories of refugees, and anger, especially involve one boy, young man actually, who wanted to go back and kill... those who raped his mother, his sister and him... at times I wonder if he did... or he managed to find any form of peace. Suffice it to say his words hunt me to this day.

Take care, and you are on the path to peace... and breaking the cycle.
