ROFL: Smart kids fail to ID Reagan Pic on Jeopardy
Edited on Fri Jul-09-10 12:17 PM by RamboLiberal
Damn You, Trebek!
A hard night on kids' Jeopardy when the prodigies were asked to identify the president shaking hands in the picture. It wasn't even a hard president like Taft or Fillmore. Not knowing Reagan? Really?! It looks like the GOP lost out on this batch.

Tweety showed clip as well on last night's Hardball. Hope for the coming generation!

1. I thought it was hilarious! I saw it happen. Woot!
Wouldn't it be great if the next generation had no memory of Reagan other than as having learned about him in school to know what not to do?

6. Why, because they're dumb?
I'm sorry, but they should be able to ID Reagan's picture. Truman and Eishenhower were before my time, but I knew what they looked like when I was that age.

24. Get off your high horse
Why don't we pick trivia until you get a question wrong? Because it is obvious you are dumb because you miss one trivia question.

10. The courthouse, the airport, the expressway and your school are named after him.
Who is Reagan?

That settles it, now we can't be content with simply naming everything after Reagan, we must line the streets with huge Chairman Mao style posters of St. Ronnie too, lest something as horrible as this ever happen again.

23. They might know of him, but knowing his face is a different story
Though I know the faces of the most famous presidents, I don't know the faces of many presidents who were in office before I was born. It's not like that's drilled into us in school or something!!

19. Possible reason
Maybe these smart kids grew up in homes where Reagan was not idolized, and if they go to a specialized school, history may not be a focus of their particular study (at this time), or perhaps they are not yet studying "recent" American History. Schools tend to start at the beginning, and work their way forward, so 1980 is very recent in historical times. If there is a political bent to a school, it might be different, but the fact that they did not know, kind of lays waste to the meme of "lib'rul schoolin'for the youn'uns"

Kids need to know who he was and what he did to this country.

Just as long as we keep his goddamned name off of buildings and his wrinkled mug off our currency.
