Justice officials detail Goodling’s partisan witchhunt. The New York Times reports:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/12/washington/12monica.html?ei=5088&en=26ad567fc04e3080&ex=1336622400&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

Two years ago, Robin C. Ashton, a seasoned criminal prosecutor at the Department of Justice, learned from her boss that a promised promotion was no longer hers.

“You have a Monica problem,” Ms. Ashton was told, according to several Justice Department officials. Referring to Monica M. Goodling, a 31-year-old, relatively inexperienced lawyer who had only recently arrived in the office, the boss added, “She believes you’re a Democrat and doesn’t feel you can be trusted.”

Ms. Goodling would soon be quizzing applicants for civil service jobs at Justice Department headquarters with questions that several United States attorneys said were inappropriate, like who was their favorite president and Supreme Court justice. One department official said an applicant was even asked, “Have you ever cheated on your wife?”

Ms. Goodling also moved to block the hiring of prosecutors with résumés that suggested they might be Democrats, even though they were seeking posts that were supposed to be nonpartisan, two department officials said.

1. Karma's a beeyotch, ain't it, girl??? You're immunized. You GOTTA spill yer guts to Congress.
And she was boo-hooing to her boss about how her career was ruined now.

Nobody would lift a goddamn finger to give me a job as a lawyer or even as a highly qualified paralegal. Not once have I gotten a job with my law degree. I don't have a license to practice, but still couldn't get a job with that J.D.

4. Is she going to get in front of the Senate and
pull an Alberto? You know-"I don't remember", "I don't recall", etc. Can she do that? I mean, her friggin' name is on practically every piece of paper that was given to the Senate committee. Can she just claim that she doesn't remember?

5. Recommended.
I wonder when her ass was in a sling if she gave a second thought to the political leanings of the attorneys she's using to represent her? Somehow I doubt it.

8. K & R. So this is going to be in SATURDAY'S paper? Not trying to hide this much,
are they?

I don't know that many people that read the paper on Saturday. Nobody can tell me that the NYT didn't have this information on Thursday, or couldn't wait 'til Monday or Tuesday. The media is still trying to protect these bastards.

12. They will try, but with the Net these little dumps take on a life of their own.
Sometimes they live for years and years...

Pathetic that they will still try to protect people like Monica Goodling, isn't it? Tells us what we need to know about who they really are.

10. "you're a Democrat and doesn't feel you can be trusted." Just how
illegal is this, from the DOJ, no less. As dumb as she seems, she's smart enough to demand immunity.

14. I only wish I could be confident that all of this constitutes a CRIME.
It should be a crime but I don't think it is. Meddling with elections the way they apparently intend for 2008 -- through racially-motivated vote challenges -- would be a crime under the Voting Rights Act. But vetting potential DOJ hires for partisan loyalty, and drafting the DOJ into the Administration's service for partisan political purposes, is not against any federal statute -- is it? Does anybody know?

15. The Hatch Act
I am pretty sure that it is against the Hatch act to use an appointed position to influence and hire alnong party lines. I hate the fact that they gave her immunity. I do not know why they did not suopena her and when you took the fivth throw her in jail for a few days(maybe a little water boarding) and see if she cracks. If not then maybe immunity. However limited immunity might still allow her to be convicted of something.
