WTF?...Why not just appoint someone until 2012, then have the election then...

1. If he doesn't appoint someone then I don't think we can pass the unemployment extension.
We need that D vote for the rest of the year.

2. Because Manchin wants the seat and has already said he won't appoint himself.
So an early election is the best bet for him to win the rest of the term by election and be set for the 2012 election.

In the meantime, he said he would appoint someone to hold the seat until the November special election, so someone should be there to vote before long.
