Clayton McGarrah

"Clayton D. McGarrah was a bright young man with a promising future in the Army," said Capt. David Christmas, McGarrah's commander. "He had not been with us more than a week, but was already stepping up as a rifleman to the demanding task in a harsh combat environment." McGarrah joined the Army Sept. 16, 2009 "

"On May 7, he married his longtime sweetheart, Emily. They had been dating since he was in the ninth grade. ...

Orville "Bo" McGarrah, his father, owns a roofing business in Harrison.

"He wanted something more for himself," his sister said. "He knew he wasn't a roofer, so to speak."

1. It is really time to end this
There is no point other than Corporate interests.

Pull the troops home and close a couple of bases around the world. Build a new base on the Arizona border and rotate troops in and out.

2. I don't know about putting them at the Arizona border.
I don't honestly believe that's where they could do the most good.

Our lack of health care is a bigger problem than any immigration woes. I'd love to see the medics and doctors run free clinics for the poor. And if we can do "humanitarian aid" - which always comes with political strings attached abroad, we could certainly do humanitarian aid in the US, helping in food distribution centers. If we can build schools abroad, surely we can build shelters for the homeless here, so they have some protection when temperatures rise too high or too low.

3. I like your ideas and agree we should be focused on
Americans.

I was thinking along the lines that if we close a couple of bases and pull the troops home that would save billions upon billions of dollars that can be used for things like you mentioned.
