Department of proud to be an A-hole ...... Darrell Issa

Republican Emerges as Obama’s Annoyer-in-Chief

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/07/us/politics/07issa.html?hp

WASHINGTON — As a sign of the pride Representative Darrell Issa takes in annoying the Obama administration, consider
his account of a recent exchange with Rahm Emanuel, a former congressman and now the White House chief of staff. In
describing the episode — a chance encounter outside the House gym — Mr. Issa smirked and raised his middle finger.

“That’s the only thing Rahm did when he saw me,” Mr. Issa, a California Republican, boasted in an interview in his House office.
He waved the unfriendly digit in the air like a trophy before folding it into a nub (to mimic Mr. Emanuel, who lost part of his finger
in a long-ago meat-cutting accident). More annoying? Mr. Emanuel, through a spokeswoman, said the incident did not occur.

Born and reared in Cleveland, Mr. Issa, the grandson of Lebanese immigrants, describes himself as “a rotten young kid” — a period
that apparently stretched well into his 20s. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in 1972 (he was carrying an unlicensed pistol)
and, with his brother William, was indicted on felony charges related to car thefts in 1972 and 1980. The charges were never pursued for
lack of evidence, and Mr. Issa, who calls himself a victim of “guilt by association,” blames his brother. (Reached at his home in Ohio, William
Issa took full responsibility). He had a “colorful youth,” Darrell Issa said of himself. “But if the newest thing they can point to is decades old,
they’re missing the whole point.”

1. He's still a crook, he's just gotten slicker at it.
He's now stealing taxpayer dollars by claiming he represents his constituents.

2. How 'Bout We Call You A Douchnozzle...
This dude wants to be the next Disco Danny Burton...a publicity whore who knows how to play the corporate media. He's become the darling of every talk show...hold up your cellphone camera around him and he'll do a 5 minute interview. His ticket is ego and power...and following the Gingrich playbook...make lots of noise and you'll get attention.

This has almost zero to do with accountability and all about reprising the endless witchhunts of the Clinton era. The GOOP has learned that the insinuation is more damaging than the truth. He doesn't need any proof, just "suspicion". Be assured if the rushpublicans retake the House (:scared:), this fukwad will not hesitate to trump up charges, hold hearings, subpoena to emabarass and let the corporate media go wild.

This dude is slick and dangerous...

3. Gotta admit though- he has chutzpah
something that most in Democratic party leadership positions might want to learn a thing or two about.

4. Agreed
If the Democrats lose majorities this year, they truly deserve it for their tepid actions towards the crimes and criminals of the previous regime. At one time I tried to square the fear of endless prosecutions and investigations (and they were needed) would impede getting real and positive legislation passed. I've been disappointed and seen a lot of opportunities squandered for political expeidency.

There are some Democrats with the stones and integrity to hold the government accountable but they're not in positions of seniority or power...and it should be motivation to work to support incumbent progressives and try to elect more.

I'm still optimistic that the rushpublicans will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...the Democrats will hold both houses but by default not by strength.

Cheers...
