Is "The Nation" worth subscribing to?
I have seen a lot of ads about it.

Worth a liberal like me receiving?

Any feedback?

5. I subscribe to both. Even though they have
online versions, sometimes I just like a print version to carry around with me when I'm stuck in waiting rooms that have FOX News on.

2. Somewhat heady and verbose at times. They have an online version so you can save the trees.

I would check that out. You will get a sense for what their stuff is like.

3. I'm thinking of subscribing just for the covers
DId you see the ad on countdown? The one with Beck and Palin on the cover and the one with the dick and his daughter?

The content could be crapola (although I'm pretty sure it isn't given their staff) and it would be worth it just to see those covers.

4. I just renewed my subscription.
Great article in the most recent issue by Naomi Klein about the BP oil disaster. Actually, more than one good article on it. You will have to be a liberal to receive it because there is no pandering to the middle. On the other hand, it's printed on really cheap newsprint, nothing glossy about it, but we do this for the knowledge. Right?

It has a long proud history of advocacy for liberal and progressive issues, and fights very hard.

The Nation

The Progressive

Mother Jones

Harpers

All of those are "worthy"

21. NO/Maybe
I subscribed to it for a year. After the third month of overwhelming amounts of political screed, I gave up trying to read it and just looked at the covers and a couple of things inside before sending it to its proper place in the trashcan. Needless to say, I let the subscription expire and then endured years of ads trying to get me back.

On the other hand, if you have several hours a week to spend reading bullshit, maybe this is for you. If you liked Will Pitt's style of bloviating, perhaps the Nation would be perfect for you - if you have the time to spend on it after you're done with his wordy fluff pieces.

28. Hell, yes!
Paul Newman had long underwritten The Nation according to an actor friend of mine who does contribute to it and Mother Jones. We all need to support real journalism. The big corporations won't. They want to destroy real reporting.

33. I did subscribe for a while
but like others, I couldn't keep up with them and all the other reading I was trying to get in. There was one thing that I did do while subscribing. I used to take them to any waiting room I had to visit and conveniently leave them behind for others to pick up and read. I especially enjoyed doing this to places that always seemed to have Fox News on their TV's. And since doctor's offices and hospitals have seemed to get rather cheap about having magazines available, I figured that people who wouldn't normally read something like The Nation might just pick it up out of boredom while waiting.

37. I just found an iPad App of The Nation.
Coolness! :woohoo:

It wasn't there 2 months ago!
Just downloaded it for free, and the first issue is free as well. Looks like 99¢ an issue. $17.99 for a year. Pretty good for a weekly!
It works on iPhone too.
