Sad to hear the disbelief, the sadness in Bill Mazer's voice.
Bill Mazer has a M-F radio show on WVOX in Westchester. He used to be on WEVD. He's liberal on some things, strong on Israel. He just got off the phone with a regular caller who told him about the Bush Administration hiring a plethora of Regent University graduates in order to corrupt the justice system and to ensure a permanent republican majority.

Notwithstanding how could Bill not have heard this before as he has had a lot of guests on his show who have more or less talked about what's been going on since 2000 and that he reads a lot, it was very sad to hear him articulate his astonishment, his grappling to understand and to accept this as fact. The disbelief of "how could this happen"? He wished he couldn't believe it and was struggling to incrementally believe but he gravitated toward the caller's reporting of the facts.

And you know what? We're inured to all this. We read and talk about it all the time. As compared to an 80-something man who really believes in the ideal of America and finds this new set of developments to be so horrifying and that it struck him hard.

We'll see how he digests it over the week-end and what he says on Monday.

1. It's true, we're very isolated in our ivory tower here
and I mean that in a complimentary way, in that we are far more informed that most of the public, and it's shocking when confronted with that in the "outside" world.

I also feel that way when I'm watching CSPAN and wish that some of those congresscritters were better informed, too.

2. Please remember...
Mazer is getting mighty old, and I am sure he would rather talk baseball on his show, talk about the old days of baseball.
