Another one for the stupid email files...

Got this crap today.

Like a lot of folks in this state and in this country, I have a job. I work,
they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes
as they see fit. (And, okay, some of those things we need, like, police,
firemen, etc. And then there are some other things that are really
ridiculous, like a $600 hammer.)

But, in order to get that job to earn that paycheck I was required to pass
a urine test, and they continue do this randomly as my employer sees fit, which, okay,
I have no problem with that, I need the job. What I do have a problem with is the
distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

My Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check,
after all, I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.
I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping an able-bodied person sit on their
backside all day making a career out of waiting on the taxes dollars that I had to
piss in a cup for.

Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass
a urine test every month to get a public assistance check?

1. I've received that one quite a few times lately.
I've sent a comment back every time-and it wasn't in agreement.

2. all this urine testing is really pissing me off
But seriously, it is absolutely stupid. This is how it works. Instead of seeing the urine test that HE has to take as a violation of his rights, and his human dignity, he instead turns around to demand that the same indignity is inflicted on someone else who he deems 'unworthy.'

Why not call for urine tests for the people who are spending his tax dollars? George Bush?

4. Some people that pass urine tests can't pass IQ tests.
 The very notion that it's OK to require people to take urine tests, blood tests, or any other intrusive medical testing to be employed is absolute horseshit. Even in critical jobs such as airline pilots it's overkill and a violation of civil liberties, imho.

7. The *Bush* administration is now taking applications for a new
P-Czar.

But seriously, this e-mail is missing the point of how seriously these urine tests invade our basic right to privacy. A quote from a great book I once read:
"Mediocrity that can pass a urine test somehow trumps true talent that cannot or will not pass a urine test." That may not be the exact quote from Dr. Szaz (sic) but that is the general gist of it.

The drug testing phenomenon really illustrates the new "GOTCHA" attitude of our invasive society & it is truly amazing how we have all rolled over for it. I am not judging - we all need to make a living, but it is fascinating how the ones who have legislated it made themselves exempt from it....food for thought.
