Instead of politics we need common sense, honesty, integrity, and above all policies from our government that will benefit only the greater good of the USA.

As a reminder to the political class, the "greater good of the USA" is about the US people, not the multi-national corporations or bankers that have zero allegiance except to their overpaid CEO's and international shareholders, or other countries.

There was a time when helping GM or GE helped the USA. No longer is that true. These corporations with US sounding names no longer have any so-called corporate citizenship or allegiance. They have become more as pilferers of our society than benefactors. Many don't pay any taxes, nor do they hire Americans first, nor do they do anything for the USA except corrupt our government.

For starters we should end every dollar of corporate welfare given to oil companies, or to Hollywood, the NFL, and all of them. End all payments, tax deals or subsidies or special deals and ban any competition between states or cities for economic redevelopment dollars. They should pay their own way totally.

Secondly why are we giving out billions upon billions in unemployment compensation payments and getting nothing in return except keeping people from starving. Remember the WPA where the USA and Roosevelt built trails and parks and lifelong improvements that benefited future generations of Americans. Why isn't unemployment insurance being organized so that it results in improvements instead of more deficits. This should be about long term improvements for the USA and not sacrifice by individuals. Work builds ethics and it builds character. Handouts do nothing.

1. What kind of corporate welfare does Hollywood get
and how does it compare to oil, insurance, war profiteering?

2. For starters
none of these business sectors should get a dime of our taxpayer or US Treasury money. The partners, players and CEOs are all wealthy far beyond the scope of average Americans.

Their wealth tends to be used to corrupt Congress, not help the USA. The system is corrupt.

Here is an article about Hollywood subsidies.

3. K&R exept 'handouts'.
Yeah, sure, their are those who game the system.
But they are few.
Most of those getting 'handouts' are really in need.

My wife and I get a 'handout' every month from Social Security.
We paid in all our lives and we need the payback to keep our heads above water.

4. Thanks
Many need help especially today. But I don't like to see the system gamed. I've been suspicious that some relatives might be on SSI while they work on the side but I think that has ended. But that is nothing compared to what Wall Street and other corporations have taken.

My point was that if people are getting unemployment compensation then lets make it do something positive long term for society and future generations, as was done by Roosevelt's WPA. We don't need to get the private sector involved with big profits for cronies, and campaign contributions all at our expense.
