My heart goes out to Tomas today.

If you have not yet seen Body Of War, it's a great documentary about Tomas dealing with his paralysis following his injury in Iraq. There is one scene where Tomas goes to see Senator Byrd in his DC office and Byrd tells him about his vote against the IWR in 2002 and shows Tomas the vote record framed and hanging in his office, showing the "immortal 23" senators who voted against the IWR. It is one of the most touching scenes I have ever seen on film.

Tomas is a friend of mine and has expressed deep admiration for Senator Byrd on many occasions. Thinking of you today, Tomas!

4. He's doing better than he was 2 years ago
He also has an awesome lady in his life. And his mom is no longer married to that wingnut in the movie.

8. Oh I love that picture!
Best scene in the movie was the scene in Byrd's office.

Hugs to Cathy.

I need to get my ass up to Chicago to see her and that rowdy man of hers. LOL

I saw her (and the rowdy one along with rowdy, jr., lol) last week at a Cindy/Bill Ayers thing. They are doing great! And she showed me the most amazing book of pictures taken by a photographer from the Nation, several of them are of Tomas. I'll have to find the info and send it to you - she says we ALL should have it as our coffee table book.

10. I found the info -
The book is 'War is personal' By Eugene Richards - it is not available on Amazon until September. She says she can get copies now if we want them, only they're very expensive. I opted to wait 'til Sept. since I'm unemployed at the moment.
