Dying at the hands of the private industries
I remember when I was growing up. Parents told their kids they could be ANYTHING they wanted to be.
When I entered my teen years, this was still being told to kids--but my high school friends had choices.
Not everybody was going to college--that was a given. But we lived in a highly industrial area and so many of the ones who didn't go to college got jobs at the various plants in the area. Good jobs. Good benefits.
I had a dear friend when I was in High School. He was almost like a soul-mate.
I moved out of state and we lost touch. He recently found me on Facebook.
Talked to him one day recently. He apparently has lost several jobs and has been unable to find one.
He watches fucks news. They have given him someone to blame--the Mexicans.
And hate them he does!
In fact, he hates everything! Hates Obama, hates the Mexicans, etc etc etc...but yesterday, he "liked" the FB page "The Bible".:eyes:
He likes Beck, Rush, and the entire slew of hate sites that go along with them.
I've clicked his name many times to unfriend him--but I haven't had the heart to do it yet.
But the time is coming and I will. He has grown into a very bitter man and these people do what they can to feed that hate.
That is what keeps us divided and keeps us from discussing the real issues--corporate privatization--stealing good, strong union jobs and putting them in the private sector for no bennies and much less money all the while the MSM convincing the masses that this is a good thing.
I am a nurse--a very highly educated nurse holding many certifications.
I also have a chronic health disease.
When the hospital started losing money, I, along with others in similar situations, was let go with a myriad of excuses why.
None of them performance related.
The REAL reason is that I cost them too much money.
I actually USED my health insurance.
That is a no-no in corporate amerrika.
You may have benes but you CANNOT use them.
This to me is where Congress and Obama made the biggest mistake for folks like me.
I was a valuable employee with years of experience, but employing me impacted the bottom line.
If we had universal healthcare--I would still have my job.
I am going on being unemployed 4 months--but in all honesty, I haven't mounted a serious job search yet.
I will do it soon but corporate hospitals are seeking out young nurses. It doesn't matter that they don't have the experience--because hospitals don't care about that anymore. They are out to save as much money as possible and if patients die in the process, it is merely collateral damage.
The corporate masters have deemed it to be so.

2. Its corporations vs Americans
That's the true battle.

I've decided to point that out any time I possibly can.

It's not right vs left. Conservative vs Liberal. Republican vs Democrat.

It's corporations vs Americans.

And they've worked very hard at making us all attack one another so we'll lose sight of the true battle.

3. Same old Haves vs. Have Nots with the Haves being protected by their idiot
brainwashed Have Nots from the non-brainwashed Have Nots. Protected at gunpoint. Now, how does one deprogram the brainwashed Have Nots? Well, you first have to eliminate magic thinking. That means, religion gets flushed.

We're fucked.

4. Public in general does not underrstand that, more than anything else, what happens to patients
depends upon the smallest things imaginable and, thus, WHO, exactly and precisely WHO, shows up at the bedside or elsewhere at a given moment.

Yes there are general givens, defined by regulations and processes, but what actually HAPPENS depends upon the specific individual giving the care.

7. I literally worked with nurses who have KILLED patients
by senseless errors. I can say that I cannot count how many lives I have saved over the years by attentiveness and close observation and nobody has ever lost their life at my hand, yet, they retain their jobs because they don't utilize their benefits and I lost mine because I did.
The world is crazy topsy turvy upside down these days.

10. You speak the truth. There are nurses in my family and I have talked with nursing students.

They readily admit that the field has a significant number of persons looking to marry a doctor in it, amongst its younger ranks.

More mature nurses can pretty much earn what they want, where they want (as long as they stay out of their benefits it appears), what the ones I have talked to want, more than money, is to do their work in a manner that allows them to feel good about themselves as professionals and to be able to sleep at night.

Sorry! about your job. I hope it works out.

NGU!

6. More and more nations are pushing back against the neoliberal
agenda than has been pushed by EVERY president after Jimmy Carter.

We need to join our brother and sister workers, our fellow peasants, in every nation.

The G20 is meeting now. They are playing the proverbial three-dimensional chess we keep hearing about.

Look in the mirror if you want to see a pawn on their game board.
