Poll question: Who do you blame for the failure of the unemployment extension bill?
Edited on Fri Jun-25-10 05:23 PM by Sebastian Doyle
Republicans will be Republicans. But why does Ben Nelson have to be one? And when is Harry Reid going to do his job and LEAD?

Your thoughts?

7. A majority can no longer pass anything in the Senate.

8. Bill DLC Nelson was the 41st vote
Granted, Cosmo Brown probably voted against it as well, but that's beside the point.

Republicans obstructing a Democratic bill shouldn't surprise anyone. Though in this case, the needs of their own constituents (some of whom are no doubt Republicans themselves) should take precedence over partisan hatred.

Still though, it's what you expect from them. Nelson should know better. And Reid needs to buy a calculator. 51-49 would be a win. 57-41 is a HUGE win. But Harry the wimp refuses to fight. Filibuster?? Let the Repukes filibuster. The C-Span cameras are documenting every second of it. Let em filibuster. Let them go on and on for hours about how they couldn't give a flying fuck about millions of unemployed Americans who aren't going to be employed any time soon, and will now have their only marginal source of income cut off.

Let the filthy bastards have their own selfishness used against them in October on their local TV stations.

And then pass the bill.

That's how this should have been done. Not another cave in by the spineless wonder from Nevada.

5. We should have used the filibuster like hell in the last congress.
We are always too nice. It's time for that to stop. Why did Bush always get his way even though he did not have 60 votes in the senate?

12. Whoever decided to let them off the hook for the filibuster
Those fucks should be spending all weekend sitting there talking.

They want to filibuster, FINE, let them! No vacation.

Simple majority vote!

13. The GOP old guard
  • They want Obama to have a Hoover style Great Depression.
  • They want to destroy the Democrats.
  • They want to carry out their GOP agenda with super-majorities.
