1. Silly person. War spending is cash right in their pockets.
Sure spending on the unemployed might stabilize the economy and might actually be be better in the long run, but hey, the long run is for losers. The only thing that matters is this quarter's bottom line. So by all means, back that big war money truck right up here to the trough and start dumpin. Why do you hate America?

3. Guess they're also looking for a free fire-works display. Hungry people do desperate things.

4. Go back to calling it the "War Department"
Instead of the "Department of Defense" -- we are the aggressors, it is war.

maybe a few people would stop to think about where the money's going then?

6. The United States is doing just that.
Aid to cities and towns
Teacher salaries
Firemen salaries
Policemen salaries
Roads and bridges

are just a few of the things we are removing (taxing) to keep the occupations going and the MIC fully funded.

7. one might think
The Republicans would prefer all the unemployed go into the military, since there still are wars going on.

13. Bingo!
This is the way the military/industrial meat grinder maintains its supply of raw meat. I'm completely serious.

9. Of course.
We have a never-ending money spigot for wars -- as long as they're not fought by members of the nazi party -- but no money for unimportant "luxuries" such as health care, infrastructure, helping the homeless, etc.

Each day, 273 people die due to lack of health care in the U.S.

We need single-payer health care, not a welfare bailout for the serial-killer insurance agencies.

10. Can't think that's a brilliant political position
Of course, with ACORN gone, they're probably betting they can keep the unemployed out of the polls.

11. Isn't it true that war funding regularly gets more that just the "pig" vote?
I recall that nearly every funding vote is quite close to unanimous.

12. Uh huh. Because war and patriotism are the same thing

... or so we're told. Peaceniks are wimps, not to be trusted with leadership, even if their peaceniking really only applies to ghastly boondoggles like the Middle East wars.

We need to change that.

14. They may fear a voter backlash from those with family members or relatives serving in the "wars"
if they vote against funding them.

Rethuglican'ts vote against socialist funding for unemployment and other entitlements, because they know that most of their constituency who are unemployed and/or poor are too busy just trying to survive than to be involved in helping opposition candidates through campaign contributions, or to volunteer their time and effort, or even to vote themselves.

15. I understand now. Vote for the war funds, because voting against it
would cause the troops to return due to lack of funding. This return of the troops would reduce their liklihood of being blown up, and the congresscritters fear the backlash of the relatives for keeping their family members alive.

I think it is more likely that regardless of the (R) or (D) by the congresscritter name, they are actually pretty much the same. They really don't care what constituents want, as long as those constituents continue to vote for 'the name you know' - which is pretty much how most people make their selection at the ballot box.

17. a pig is a pig is a pig
no excuse for the moral, oh so christian right wingers, who could extend benefits for the cost of one day of war. Will add something like .05 to the deficit, far less than the cost of both the wars. Heartless, cruel and so unlike Christ.

I can't even tell you what I think of those Dems that voted against extending benefits. I may choke on my own vomit.
