Do Republicans actually want America to fail?
As long as the repukes think they can blame the Democrats and President Obama..I believe the answer is a resounding YES!!!!

Tomorrow, more than a million people who've been out of work for six months or more will lose unemployment benefits, because Senate Republicans and theoretical Democrat Ben Nelson joined together to block an already too-small package of half-measures designed to provide some modicum of help for the nation's millions of jobless people.

The vote was 57-41. Oddly, the side with 41 votes actually won. Because that is how the Founders wanted things to not work in this god-blessed nation.

Hundreds of thousands of public- and private-sector employees will also soon to joint he ranks of the unemployed (and hope they don't become the long-term unemployed, because no one much seems to care about them), because the bill could not be made quite weak and ineffective enough to win the support of the only two "moderate" Republicans alive (two women from Maine who never actually act on their "moderate" beliefs).

"It's unpleasant to think about, and I really hope it's not true, but it may be time for a discussion about whether GOP lawmakers are trying to deliberately sabotage the economy to help their midterm election strategy," Steve Benen wrote.

Senator Debbie Stabenow suggested much the same thing after the vote:

It is very clear that the Republicans in the Senate want this economy to fail. They see that things are beginning to turn around. You know the numbers. When this president took office, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. … Now we are gaining jobs. … Unfortunately, and cynically , in cynical political terms, it doesn’t serve them in terms of their elections if things are beginning to turn around.

1. they want to be in control
if that means failure of the U.S., mass starvation, dislocation, civil war, environmental destruction, and the end of life on planet earth...they don't care.

They would sabotage the Titanic if that's what it took to be captain.

3. It is impossible to determine what Republicans want because they are so hypocritical.
They spent a decade saying how against "Nation Building" they were until Bush*/Cheney decided to do it "Big Time". Pretty much every issue they have reversed themselves and then reversed themselves again. The ONLY Constant within Republicanism is hypocrisy.

4. Yes, they do, and it's now become a perverse psychotic desire by R's to
see America fail. I don't think there's any doubt. They want it to disintegrate into crumbs thinking they can then build their vision of "their" American and the hell with the rest of the country. We are an inconvenience to their master plan. Similar events have happened in history, why would America be an exception. Many citizens have their heads in the sand, are gullible and the R's are executing their plans.

If America, as founded under our current Constitution, were to fail, they would then have the opportunity to create the country of their dreams, the Fourth Reich.

21. Definitely correct! It is a personality type, frankly bred by capitalism. Those that
screw over others are handsomely rewarded. And the more ruthless they are, the more callus, the more greedy, the more they are rewarded. It is an economic system that in the long run devours itself and is incompatible with democracy. And today it is severely unbalanced.

A good example is Sarah Palin who has crafted herself with riches from her ignorant followers. She knows how to work the ignorance of America to financially reward herself, but her supporters are too clueless to see how they are being manipulated and used to her selfish benefit financially and her insatiable ego. Americans are rewarded by their ignorance, and hence the mess.

16. Yes.
They're perfectly willing to MIHOP Great Depression 2.0 if it'll get them back into power--it's clear from their actions. Either that or they're so ignorant of history and so ideologically blind that they actually believe their own bullshit--but you'd have to be a complete fucking moron to do that. So take your pick, I guess.

Unemployment is a success. The cost of wages will go down and profits up.

Edited on Fri Jun-25-10 10:03 AM by deutsey
The one that was dominant through much of the 20th century.

Some want to erase that aberration and return to the good ol' days of the Gilded Age...others want to erase any progress made after the Enlightenment.

26. yes, the corrupt robber barons are back, but more on a global scale
just by Little Boots actions--lying us into a quagmire, tells you that they have no thought of the plebes, except as cannon fodder and bleeding them dry to allow their greedy oily friends to steal resources. Because, those won't be our resources, they are protected for the corporations to eventually sell on the global market and to control. But, we are footing the bill for their greedy goals.

And, after hearing some of the remarks made by some of those clueless, sociopathic wonders, I hope people finally get a clue. I mean, "poor BP"-not poor creatures who are suffering and dying, not poor people who were killed because of negligence, not poor communities and small businesses that are suffering--no "it's poor BP." It tells you a lot about them by what comes out of their mouths. And, ya'll know that we are all lazy. Why we just love living off of unemployment, because unemployment pays our mortgages, our health insurance, our food. Whew, we're all rich living off of unemployment. The comments made this past week, leaves me outraged and beyond disgusted with the whole lot of them. It's not that their just clueless, some are SICK-like psychopathic sick-like * telling a woman only in America could she work more than two jobs to make ends meet.

And, there sickness infects our whole society. They allow knuckledraggers like Limpballs, Beck to spew the most insane, illogical rhetoric-and some people actually gobble it up. Yes, I believe they want a very predatory third world corporate friendly America-and take away every social safety net, so that people are even controlled more, like serfs. It reminds me of the movie "Brazil", even the terrorist meme.

Why in the fucking hell is Senator Ben Nelson allowed to even have any voice in the democratic party? I wish we had an LBJ or a JFK to set this traitor straight. And why isn't Harry Reid doing anything? I am getting DAMNED TIRED of gutless leaders.

Also,to a lip service level white property owners.

So, they don't want those folks and their support system to fail but they don't give a crappy fuck about most of the people, our ideals, the flora and fauna, or the land, water, and air.

And all this talk about how the Aristocracy "needs" us to buy their crap...

Did the Medieval Barons need the Peasantry to be economically healthy so we could buy their crap?

No.

So, the failure of the bottom 90% of America is nothing to the top 1/10th% is nothing to the Aristocracy.

It's all about keeping the Peasants docile while the transition to a pre-1776 state of being for the planet earth.
