BP's environmental terrorism
By Thomas Kostigen, MarketWatch

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- BP PLC is a terrorist organization funded by you and me.

BP carries out our terrorist assignments all over the world, much like Hezbollah does Iran's dirty work, or Hamas does Saudi Arabia's, and meanwhile we, its backers, give ourselves plausible deniability.

The scientific community is unanimous in its consensus that fossil fuels wreak havoc on the Earth, inflict pain and suffering, cause deaths, and may lead life as we know it to cease to exist.

The cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico, as disastrous and catastrophic as it is, pales in comparison the assaults being committed around the planet by fossil fuel burners, extractors and distributors, as well as, dare I say, consumers.

It's time to focus on the big picture and use the battle being fought in the Gulf of Mexico to prevent a world war between us and the planet we live on.

President Obama is virtually the only one of any weight to link the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to the larger need to embrace newer, and cleaner energy sources and technologies.

That's why we need to do two things: 1) Use BP as an example. Have it match (or more) the amount of money it spends to clean up its mess in the Gulf to investments in alternative energy exploration. 2) We, each of us, need to stop funding these terrorist groups as much as we can. Not at the pump, not in our homes, and not through our stock plans.
