Robert F. Kennedy Jr. calls blown-out Gulf oil well 'theft'
Published: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 3:45 PM Updated: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 3:51 PM
The Associated Press

Environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called the blown-out well that has leaked millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico "the biggest act of theft of American history."

Kennedy said Thursday at a legal conference in Atlanta that oil giant BP PLC, which oversaw the well, "has taken 9,000 miles of public coastline along the Gulf and privatized it" with the spill.

The environmental activist told the attorneys they are "the front line defenders of American democracy" and that they should remember nature is the infrastructure of the community.

Lawyers around the country have gathered in litigation conferences to discuss filing lawsuits, securing payments and other legal tactics in connection with the massive oil spill.

5. Good call. Maybe some arrangements were already taking place behind closed door.
Afterall, Crist and his assembled legal team were getting together to file a lawsuit because they knew this would have an impact on the tourist economy. Maybe BP figures they're going to pay this cost anyways, which is why they're taking over the beaches?

6. BP can only get away with what our government allows
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 04:29 PM by Mimosa
My biggest fear is BP will bankrupt and not pay any more than that 20 billion pittance.

To really make headway to clean the Gulf and the marshes will cost hundreds of billions of dollars.
