McChrystal Banned Fox News From Headquarters
General Stanley McChrystal banned Fox News from his headquarters, according to The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder.

Ambinder wrote Wednesday (via Michael Calderone) that McChrystal is a liberal, and added in the detail about Fox News to flesh out the point:

Even more about McChrystal: now it can be told. The story about him voting for Obama is not contrived. He is a political liberal. He is a social liberal. He banned Fox News from the television sets in his headquarters. Yes, really. This puts to rest another false rumor: that McChrystal deliberately precipitated his firing because he wants to run for President.

1. This makes it more disappointing that he was fired
I thought it was a bad move to begin with but now learning the general was a liberal makes it even worse. Petreaus is a terrible replacement.

Doesn't sound very liberal to me.

6. I agree.
It wasn't like this was the first time he talked out of turn. If I'm not mistaken this was his 3rd time with this kind of behavior. He put himself in this position, Obama couldn't keep him, it would look like he had no control over things.

7. I don't get it....
What is the point here? Whether he was a rogue neocon General or a rogue liberal General matters not, imo. The guy was turfed for what said and did not because of his political beliefs.

8. It doesn't matter who he voted for. He screwed up and he has some bad ideas about who the enemy is.
I don't believe he truly understands who the enemy really is nor what our objective in Afghanistan really should be. And no decision maker can make good decisions without knowing what the goal is.

15. I guess I'm cynical, but this seems Rovian in nature
Now that he's been ousted, the story is that he's a liberal. He banned Fox News? So...we won't see him on Fox as the latest "news analyst"? Yep. I'm cynical.

16. Boy.....
this sounds liberal????? Meth MCeth McCrystal talking about our allies in France.....

"How'd I get screwed into going to this dinner?" demands Gen. Stanley McChrystal...

"I'd rather have my ass kicked by a roomful of people than go out to this dinner," McChrystal says.

He pauses a beat.

"Unfortunately," he adds, "no one in this room could do it."

With that, he's out the door.

"Who's he going to dinner with?" I ask one of his aides.

"Some French minister," the aide tells me. "It's fucking gay."

With Liberals like these, who needs conservative assholes?

17. When this story first broke...
I thought it was odd one of the first things everyone was pointing out was that he (Mcblabber) voted for Obama. The more things came out the more I said it seemed like some kind of "set-up"...I know...:tinfoilhat: it's reeked of "Rovian tactics".

It seems..to me anyway...that him being a liberal is really being pushed. I don't know why..but I don't think it's on the up and up.

I didn't post this story "defend" or excuse him, I posted it cuz there seems to be an agenda here. I think we'll see more stuff like this.

22. Ambinder's sources are....
McCrystal's aides and those still working for him. Yeah, the same guys he was with when he was so 'liberal' with his thoughts.

I don't think this whitewash crap is going to work but it seems Fox and FR are all over it, surprise, surprise.
