Generals Should Not Be Giving Speeches During Wars
It was reported today, on CNN that when General McChrystal gave his interview with Rolling Stone he was attempting to return from Paris or some other city after giving a speech. Due to the volcano eruption in Iceland McChrystal and his group were prevented from flying back to Afghanistan so they took a bus. It seems that it was on the bus that the interview took place.

Generals who are in charge of wars should not be giving speeches during on going wars. McChrystal and his senior staff should not have been traveling to Paris or anywhere else to give speeches while a war is being conducted. They should have been in Afghanistan coming up with plans concerning the fighting of the war. After coming up with the plans for the war they should have stayed in Afghanistan in order to examine the progress of the war and to make sure everything was going the way it was supposed to go.

2. IIRC, he wasn't there to give a speech.
He was there to meet with WH reps halfway, as administration officials were in Europe for the G20 summit.

3. If this was really a "war" I would agree with you but it is a "counter insurgency"
That was one of the things that initially set this General off. He wanted a "war" with massive troops and tanks etc. Obama wanted a "counter insurgency" with the emphasis placed on developing Afghanistan control..Because in a counter insurgency "civilians" are mostly in charge, so the General has time to travel around making speeches. America has to realize we are no longer "at war" even though we have "combat" troops depolyed..

7. McChrystal insults one of our allies
and expects to keep his job? He insults Obama and the VP and expects to keep his job?

Obama needs to show McChrystal some of those balls McChryslal seems to believe Obama lacks and can his ass.
