While it is unfortunate of the calamity that has occurred in the Gulf of Mexico due to the Deepwater Horizon off-shore explosion; we, the proprietors of this site do not agree with United States Attorney General Eric Holder when he spoke on behalf of President Barack Obama and the White House in saying: “The American people will not pay a dime for the clean-up of the Gulf region and pledge to hold BP financially responsible.”
It is irresponsible for our President to issue such a strong rebuke at a time when full cooperation is necessary and vital to the success of containing this terrible spill. Instead of issuing threats and ultimatums to the employees, pensioners and shareholders of BP, President Obama should be offering full and unflagging support in an effort to clean-up and mitigate this unfortunate disaster.<snip>
Yes, if only our President and his supporters would say
nice things to BP and be a bit more supportive, this would've been fixed a long time ago.
I think some multi-billion dollar corporation needs a hug.
