Dems Double Down On Joe Barton In Second TV Ad Poking GOP
The Democratic National Committee is putting a second television ad on national cable today as the party keeps Rep. Joe Barton's apology to BP alive and tries to capitalize on it in time for the midterm Congressional elections. The first effort led to donations in the "significant six figures," the DNC said.

The ad, obtained by TPMDC, links Barton to Senate candidate Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN).

The DNC was attempting to "amplify" White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's message over the weekend that Barton's comments about the spill and the escrow account for claims being a "shakedown" are part of a governing philosophy.

(snip)
A Democratic source said the first ad telling Republicans to "stop apologizing" prompted donors to open their wallets and energized party activists so much that the DNC wants to keep the flap in the spotlight. The party believes it's a "golden opportunity to define the choice voters are facing this fall."

1. Good bringing in Paul and Bauchmann.
Let the country see what the right wing really thinks of them.

2. KABOOM ! Totally awesome! More More More ! THIS is THE narrative of 2010: Us vs. Them.
Edited on Tue Jun-22-10 08:09 AM by RBInMaine
Now Dems, THIS is how you take off the gloves and smash down the scumbag GOP ! And every single last one of us should be doing the exact same thing from now to November. We can GAIN seats in Congress if we quit the nonsensical whimpering, tout our accomplishments, stick together, and BASH THE SHIT OUT OF THE GOP ! We have every single reason to be energetic and optimistic. Look at all we have accomplised: fair pay act, healthcare, stimulus, lower taxes for working folks, some small business tax incentives, first hispanic SCJustice (and a woman), going from losing 700,000 jobs a month to gaining jobs. Perfect? No. But then neither was the HUGE recession we inherited.
And Obama just got 20 billion from BP. CHUH-CHING! The RePUKES are BEGGING to LOSE in November: TeaNutjob candidates all over the country, right in bed with BP, crazy ultra right wing ideology statements day and night... Our narrative: We are the party of Americans, they are the party of big oil. We are the party of sane moderation, they are the party of nutjbob extremism. The possibility here for Democratic success is fucking endless if we just get the narrative right, stick together, and get out and work. I start working on local campaigns here in Maine very soon. Let's go!
