Hummer gets second life as massive planter in Detroit

Detroit -- The burned-out body of a beefy, military-inspired sport utility vehicle is getting another life as an oversized planter in Detroit.

The peace group CodePink organized Monday's Hummer burial at the Heidelberg Project. The SUV is being painted pink and will be filled with plants and flowers to symbolize a more sustainable, green future.

7. Well neither was putting flowers down the barrels of National Guard rifles
during the sixties, but the visual impact had international appeal. Does "visual impact" have any meaning to you at all. It is how Code Pink operates. They always go for maximum "visual impact" such as the gal holding up bloody hands to Condi Rice.. It is very powerful material..

8. This crabby-ass labor junkie sees a union-made vehicle buried in the earth and painted pink as a
mockery of what sustainability can be.

3. Why not recycle all the steel?

Wouldn't that be a better use of the ex-hummer?
