Rehberg introduces Firearms Freedom on Federal Lands Act

Rehberg introduces Firearms Freedom on Federal Lands Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-MT), Rob Bishop (R-UT) and Paul Broun (R-GA) have introduced the Firearms Freedom on Federal Lands Act to prevent the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior from issuing or enforcing any regulation or executive order, including presidential declarations authorized under the Antiquities Act, that prohibit an individual from possessing a firearm on lands managed by the Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The legislation responds to the Obama Administration’s disturbing pattern of bypassing congressional authority and public input when making decisions that affect our public lands, including the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) leaked plan to designate 13 million acres as new National Monuments.

“There’s a large segment of powerful Washington, D.C. elites that thinks the Second Amendment is obsolete and unnecessary,” said Denny Rehberg, a member of the House Second Amendment Task Force and the Congressional Western Caucus. “These progressives envision a world where only criminals and agents of the state are armed, and will use every tactic at their disposal to make this a reality. It’s up to Congress to protect these rights from overreaching bureaucrats, and that’s exactly what this legislation seeks to do.”

1. I think the Repugs want to continue getting laws like this until
they make these protected Federal Lands open to privatization so they can be destroyed by big corporations.

2. I am not anti-gun but
I will never figure out these peoples infatuation with the idea of caring firearms anywhere and everywhere. Is it some kind of 'wild west' fantasy? Would they be orgasmic if we started to actually have show downs in the streets of our towns and cities? There are reasonable uses for firearms including protection and hunting but this need to flout their firearms is ridiculous.

3. It's Montana and Utah. There's no one there. The danger from animals is real.
It's not like NYC, where you are never going to get slammed by some wild animal.

Oh.

Wait.

4. Bullshit. This has nothing to do with protection from wild animals. It's about little boys and their
big compensatin' toys.

Protection from wild animals (human or otherwise) is a perfectly legitimate use of a firearm.

6. Total bullshit...if you prepare before going into the wild, no need for
a gun...I'm so tired of this ignorant crap from people who know nothing about nature.

7. Yes it is
Like I said protection is a valid reason for having a firearm, but the paranoia of people who imagine that they are so vulnerable that they just have to carry a gun all the time is beyond me. With some of those people it's like a gun fetish or something.

8. I have used a remington 1100 fudd gun for wild animals
They hoisted their enormous drawers, and in a burst of profanity , made a rapid egress from the immediate area of their intended quarry !
