Just f-ing great...Even though this spill is NOT President Obama's fault, and even though he helped orchestrate that $20 billion fund, (do you really think Bush would have gotten $20 Billion that quick, shit if Bush was president, those people would have been lucky to receive $50 BP gas cards for their settlement) rising gas prices (fair or unfair) will hurt Dems. in Nov...

1. If this be true,
and your argument appears probable, then among the things that we can do to try to help Democrats in November, is to use as little gas as possible to lower the demand, and hence the price.

not that this is the only reason to conserve, but it's one more.

More fundamentally, the higher price in and of itself is a strong incentive to conserve, and hence only partly bad.

2. Oil industry sqeeze play for moratorium on deep sea drilling.
Did you expect anything else? They will claim decreased supplies of oil to the markets.

4. I'm surprised it has taken this long, however it is summer...
I tend to notice the price goes up this time every year.

5. Summer = gas hike on weekends.
Just in time for people to pack up and get out of town.

That's how it has always been, for as long as I can remember.

9. Yep. It always goes up during the Northern Hemisphere's summer.
This reflects the higher summer demand when people are driving more (no winter snow) and vacationing.

No conspiracy necessary.

11. Usually, but where I live gas went down just before Memorial Day
and went down afterwards. It has moved up here from $2.62 to $2.75 in the last 10 days.

7. I will take a guess if the President sticks to his moratorium
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 02:00 PM by doc03
on off shore drilling for 6 months gas will top $4.00. I read a couple days ago if this moratorium goes the entire 6 months gulf production will go down about 10-15%.

12. Oddly, I paid exactly the same amount today as I did last week.
Go figure.

Maybe that means I'm in for a $.20 hike next week.

13. haven't noticed
When I got gas a few days ago, I thought the prices went down. Next time I stop, I'll see if they went up or down.
