Joe Barton apologizes to World Cup referee Koman Coulibaly.

In a prepared statement, Representative Joe Barton (R-Tex) stated that: "The American players were wrong to force themselves into the embrace of the Slovenian defenders on the play in question. Furthermore, American forward Maurice Edu, in a disgusting display of cowardice, avoided any contact at all with the Slovenian defenders prior to his shameful, and rightly disallowed goal. On behalf of all Americans, I deplore the reprehensible "Chicago-style" carping being done in an attempt to "shakedown" the referee into correcting his call."

1. Meanwhile, Rocktivity (DU-New Jersey) stated that:

"I was wrong to ask my auto mechanic to change the oil and rotate the tires of my car on a regular basis. Though I paid him for performing those services, they deprived him of the ability to earn even more of my money by having to replace my car's motor and/or tires. I therefore humbly apologize for effectively stealing from him.

"I would also like to apologize to Apple Computers for buying a refurbished Mac Mini instead of a new one. I rejected the new one only partially because of its $599 price tag--as the owner of an external hard drive, its internal hard drive was twice the size that I needed. Nonetheless, I realize now that my cowardice and selfishness took $599 out of your profit margin, and I apologize.

"Finally, I would like apologize to Fox News and The O'Reilly Factor for watching Countdown With Keith Olbermann on MSNBC instead. I shudder to think of the amount of advertising revenues I could have given to their sponsors over the years."

"This is a tragedy of the first order that I would characterize as character assassination"
