Rachel said last night the relief well was only 200 feet away from target.
I would say they should reach their goal very soon now. According to BP this is the Only thing that can stop the oil flow..We should know within days now..I try very hard to remain optimistic but .......

1. The well casing is so hard I think I read it takes a week or two to get through that

4. But didn't BP use a cheaper, thinner casing to save money?
If they did it might not take as long to penetrate, but what if it causes an even greater rupture allowing even more oil to contaminate the Gulf?

3. I heard that it will be about three weeks to finish the job.
First you have to reach the original pipe and then you have to stop the leak. In three weeks the process of capturing the oil from the original pipe should be containing most of it. The hard part is cleaning up what was already spilled. That will take several years.
