ESPN ZONE closing doors..
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/09/AR2010060906292.html

ESPN said it is planning to shut five ESPN Zone restaurants next week, including the locations in Washington and Baltimore.

Executives at ESPN, which is owned by the Walt Disney Co., attributed the decision to continued weak economic conditions across the country. The company said in a statement that it will also close its restaurants in Chicago, New York and Las Vegas.

"The economy has hit every facet of our country," said Rick Alessandri, senior vice president at ESPN. "We weren't immune."

2. Let that be a lesson
If you're gonna have a sports themed restaurant, mix a little rock n roll in, like Alice Cooper did. (I just hope the bullshit going on in Arizona doesn't kill his place too)

10. Yeah, there was one in Denver that didn't last long either
In fact, it was already gone when I tried to find it in 2002. Location might have been part of the problem with that one. In Phoenix, Alice picked a great spot, literally right down the street from two major sports/concert venues. The Denver location wasn't as close to Mile High stadium as it should have been.

3. My brother is the only soul I know who actually likes the place
I will assume the one that is part of Downtown Disney will remain open, it probably makes a killing as a sanctuary for men to get the hell away from their kids for a few hours during a Disneyland vacation.

7. A sanctuary to get away from kids?
You've obviously never been to an ESPN Zone. The whole damn place is full of video games along with all the TVs covering sports. It's the first place kids flock to like crazy when they have time off school (boys, anyway). Swarms of them, everywhere. It's like a Chuck E. Cheese with booze.

Going to ESPN Zone to avoid kids is like going to a Justin Bieber concert to avoid teenage girls.

I have been to the one at Downtown Disney a few times with my brother, all after 11:00 at night.
