There is quite a spirited "discussion" on Cynthia Tucker's Atlanta Journal-Constitution blog about the proposition H8 closing arguments in California. Naturally, the same anti-gay bible beaters who project the most amazing claim to knowledge about the most intimate practices in other people's relationships have been wildly posting their tirades against same-sex marriage. And naturally, I joined in the fray, at times belittling how much heterosupremacists love individual rights for themselves (i.e. no problem with child sex predators marrying, or serial rapists, murderers tying the knot)but how they love to declare the end to the universe if a same-sex couple could access all those special rights enjoyed by heterosexuals-only.

There were two favorite things I'm most pleased about. . .one was pointing out the utter hypocrisy in the madness used when con-artist con-servative Georgians ran around the state breathlessly declaring that voters had to pass a constitutional amendment removing the individual right of gays to legally marry who they love because it would "destroy" marriage, while leaving a precious statute on the books that allowed a 15 year old boy to marry the mother of one of his friends (who he impregnated) without any parental consent.
The other thing was answering this always righteous conservative, who made a list of things that show how worthy conservatives are in every aspect of life, and how bad all the "liberals" are. Included in his little comparison list was this:
"If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him."
My response was this:
"One correction: If a conservative is down-and-out, he waits for one of the same-sex partners in his extended family to die, then declares their relationship illegal and immoral, and swoops in to gather the bounty."
