More Progressive Radio Voices silenced
I have all but given up on people learning the truth about 1070. I have done radio shows with experts on immigration, on the Dream Act, laws like 1070 that have gone in effect elsewhere and been changed or removed because of the horrible results. I have posted here, and other places about the real problems and broke down who these people are, shown the comparisons between Jim Crow and this Juan Crow Law, but with limited reactions, with little of the facts being used. I have noticed there is little listening to this issue anymore, little interest in getting in depth on solving it, but instead one side yells racism, the other side yelling they should become citizens, but when the facts are introduced both sides seems to mostly run for cover.

I am reairing a show tomorrow that I did back in May with someone involved with the Dream Act, Immigration here in Arizona, and one who admits she and her husband both will have their rights limited by this law. She also tells how the law had already started to affect Hispanic Americans and also the State as a whole economically. The loss of the Hispanic Community spending in this state alone has already started to hurt businesses and will continue to do so more than the boycotts and yet even with such evidence as 9500 Liberty at YouTube and now Liberty Arizona, seems our efforts to get out real facts are doomed. This show tomorrow is my last show. We are shutting down due to the fact we are listener supported and frankly we just aren't getting the help from our progressive friends to offset the cost. It is with regret that I end my work because the Progressive community can't in some cases, and won't in others support Progressive radio. I do take some comfort in the fact that like us, other progressive shows and networks are in the same boat and will be forced to shut down so it isn't just us. I wish we could support our own better and if we can stop fighting each other long enough to work as a team, we could get some of our dreams to become reality, but sadly I will not be able to take to the airwaves to get that done.

I will continue to post here (at least for awhile) and do what I can to stop this 1070, but it will be harder now since our network will fall silent, not from the right wing, but because of lack of support from Progessives. I have to honestly say, I wonder really how much we want our dreams to become reality, how much do we like the right wing domination of the airwaves since we fail to support our own voices.

2. I'm really sad that the show didn't work out for lack of support.
It's tough times for many with job losses and little money. I hope things are better in future efforts.

3. Thanks but the hard part is
it is the lack of support from our own not the right wing that is forcing this. I know many can't donate and listen, others listen but don't donate even though they could, and yet others who just don't bother to listen or donate. It is a sad thing when we yell the right owns the airwaves and yet where we do have the airwaves we refuse to step up and build on it.

I was so proud to be the first and only Progressive Talk Show to air regular (about 2 years) terrestially in Mississippi on WQRZ, to tell the real stories of the failure of Katrina Recovery and even putting my life on the line to stop people from being made homeless because a corporation wanted to take away their homes for commerical use. I saw a progressive community come together to rescue me from that and sadly I have to say many of those same people have fallen into a trap of taking sides on if Jeff Farias was fired or quit Nova M. They didn't have the facts and yet they jumped on a side and when I said it wasn't my fight that that was between Jeff and the Drobnys I was forced to take a side, and I took the correct side, Jeff was fired and the proof is there. However people clung to that and our work suffered. Now as we close out our network I see those who could have helped but wouldn't and all the time yelling how the right owns the airwaves. Any wonder why?

4. I'm sorry, Sarge. A lot of our young outlets are really struggling right now.
I hope it gets better.

5. I'm sorry to hear that.
But please, don't take it personally. There just aren't many Progressives in the Phoenix area, and we're not very well organized. I hope you'll stick around DU.

6. So sorry
I'm in the NY/NJ metro area, and the wingnuts rule the airwaves here, too. A few stations here and there carry progressive content (WWRL, public and college stations), but you have to search. And it's not broadcast 24/7.

Still, I don't think Al Franken and/or Rachel Maddow would be where they are today if it weren't for Air America, ill fated as it was.

So someone is out there listening . . .

7. I'm sorry to hear this, but you make a most powerful point which...
all of DU needs to hear. Progressives are not only failing to support each other, we are at each others' throats more and more with each passing day. You would think that a bit of a reprieve we got in Novemeber of 2008 would have galvanized our unity of purpose but, sadly, it looks like the opposite has happened.

I truly hope this trend will reverse and we will realize the power we would have in solidarity. But with current attitudes, its not promising.

8. Yes and might I add
that it isn't just here at DU but I run across it other places. I also have discovered that all the throwing Obama under the bus and refusing to support him because we don't like some things he does and refuse to acknowledge those we do like that he does is costing some progressive talk show host their listening audience. It isn't a large number in this group and they are hurting advancement and like I have heard in Mississippi for years, the statement that we Progressives/Liberals can't work as team enough to get anything done. I hear it a lot these days because we do sound like we can't work together. The fact we can disagree on somethings with Obama, but can support things he does we like while trying to get him to more closer to us on others but refuse to do so makes us look bad.

9. Sarge, I think people are supporting what they can but there isn't much there
The signature type items are more betrayal than boon.

So, yeah we can cheer on Shepherd, Ledbetter, the EO for stem cells, the student loan reform, getting some money out of BP, some of the stuff in the recovery act, and a few other things but the general direction and priorities kinda suck.

Who do liberals look bad to and what impact do you foresee from it, have to be honest that I don't give a squirty shit what pukes that can't be convinced or much what the right wing of the party thinks either as they'll run to the Republicans as soon as they scare them a bit less.
