A murder seen by millions, and a fiancé fighting for justice
The surrounding crowd seized a man on a motorbike. They stripped and beat him. He shouted, “I didn’t want to kill her.” An identity card taken from his wallet identified the man as Abbas Kargar Javid, a Basij member given a three-day licence by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to operate in Tehran. Someone took a video and photos. The crowd let him go.

Caspian didn’t yet know Neda was dead. He spent all that night looking at photographs he had taken of the demonstrations. He had a sick feeling in his stomach that he couldn’t explain. Early the next day he got a call from Neda’s cellphone. It was her sister, Hoda. “Neda’s gone,” she said.

about bombing Iran before they can develop the bomb, I think of these people. I got to know a few of them slightly during the uprising and they are wonderful people, capable of humor in the middle of disaster.

At my lowest points, I view our own government the way Caspian views his. It's clear that it serves the corporations and not the people and that our voting system is hopelessly compromised in too many states, especially deep red states like SC and Arizona.

I feel a great deal of kinship with people in Iran who want something better. They deserve it. So do we.

(and it has nothing to do with whether or not the smear job on Caspian Makan is accurate)

4. See "For Neda" on HBO Religion must be seperate from government!
And thank your lucky stars you live in America.

In the documentary it explains how days before her death, Neda was warned by a sympathetic Revolutionary Guard woman that when the killing starts they will aim at beautiful women. She reminds Neda how the beauty of women drives the hardliner men crazy.

Neda wanted to study belly dancing. She read great books that were forbidden.

The Iranian citizens live real life like the characters in Margaret Atwood's "A Handmaiden's Tale."
